Michele Mattox, LCSW, LISW-CP

Hi, I’m Michele!

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North and South Carolina, and the owner and lead therapist of No Limits Counseling—a practice I built just for teens and adults who are differently-abled. Based in Fort Mill, SC, and Charlotte, NC, I also meet with clients virtually so distance is never a barrier to getting support. I’m excited to share that I’m now registered as an out-of-state telehealth provider in Florida, which means I can connect with and support clients there as well.

After taking a break from my career to stay home with my two boys, I started volunteering with several disability organizations in Charlotte. That’s when it became clear to me—there weren’t enough mental health professionals who truly understand and connect with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, especially clients with Down syndrome. I knew that’s where I could make a difference.

I’ve been involved with the disability community for over 20 years in just about every role you can imagine—Behavior Specialist, In-Home Service Provider, Teacher’s Assistant in a life skills classroom, Skills Group Facilitator, Program Coordinator for teens and adults with Down syndrome, and even Special Olympics gymnastics coach. Each experience has given me a deeper understanding of the mental health and relationship challenges people with I/DD often face.

I’m also an active member of the Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group (DSMIG-USA) and regularly consult with professionals across the country so I can bring best practices and fresh ideas to my clients.

Outside of work, I’m a mom to two busy boys who keep me on my toes with golf, basketball, and baseball. I’m a native Charlottean who loves the beach, working in my yard, and laughing with friends. My heart is in giving back—whether it’s supporting organizations that help families with a child battling cancer, standing behind those dedicated to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis, or championing causes that create opportunities and resources for people with disabilities and other disadvantaged communities.

My mission is simple: to make mental health support accessible, relatable, and empowering for individuals of all abilities—helping them feel understood, improve their overall wellness, and reach their goals.
